By now, you all have probably heard of how important social media marketing is for your company, no matter the size or industry that you are involved with. If you have not heard this yet, this is me telling you to get on board with social media marketing! While there are many different ways that you can market your business through social media, I will be focusing this post on Facebook.
Facebook is a very easy to use, FREE and a relaxed way of interacting with your clients/customers (past, present and future), getting news out surrounding your company, and being able to have a one stop shop of contact information, marketing and interaction. Many people are now seeing Facebook to be just as important as having a website. That is 100% correct, IF done correctly.
Time and time again, I see companies who have signed up for a Facebook account but are not using it to its full potential, or just think that because they have started a Facebook page, they don't need to do anything else. Wrong! You need to continue to update your Facebook page over and over again. Interaction is key! Don't look at it as a 'selling' tool but more of an informational platform. Facebook users don't want to be sold to. They want to be relaxed while they are searching around, talking with friends and family, and while doing research. If all that you post is that you want people to call you to buy X, Y and Z for $$$, your phone will not ring as a result of Facebook. What you want to do is to INFORM your Facebook page visitors of what you do and how you may be able to help them.
Aonther key point to keep in mind is that it does not matter how many Facebook fans you have, but how you respond to the ones that you do have. I have seen companies gain new clients/customers with Facebook by only having 10 fans, while I have seen others with thousands and thousands of fans who get zero business from Facebook alone. This is another time that the "It's QUALITY, not QUANTITY" statement is true.
Be sure to post images of you and your employees being engaged in a fundraising effort, talking about real life experiences (within reason!), and just being themselves. Post images on Facebook of your clients/customers in front of your place of business, with your product or while they are getting your services. This will show people that your company cares and is in tune with the community, their clients/customers, and are normal people just like the visitor that is on your page looking around. Present yourselves as easy to communicate with and be caring.
